Mountain Winery, The death of a man who jumped from the roof of the Mountain Winery and landed on the stage as the concert-goers watched in horror Thursday night is being treated as an apparent suicide, according to the Sheriff’s Office Santa Clara County.
Officials are not releasing the man’s name.
The man was attending a concert by The Swell Season with a friend when he left the audience about 10 pm, leaving behind some elements “personal”, according to Sgt. Rick Sung, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Department.
The friend “not to think about it,” said Sung.
Soon after, the man appeared from nowhere on the roof of the Mountain Winery.
Glen Hansard, lead singer of The Swell Season, had just finished a song and was joking with people, making fun of a guitarist in his band when witnesses say the man suddenly jumped from the ceiling next to the lighting system.
The man fell about Hansard.
Kyle Rivers, who attended the concert with his wife, said that at first thought the man was part of the act.
“And then she ran and jumped, did a spin and landed on the stage,” said Rivers. “It was very traumatic.”
Witnesses said that after the man hit the stage, put the guitar Hansard and approached the body, while several others, including medical assistance, tried to revive him. Sung said the doctor, paramedics and firefighters worked on the man for more than an hour.
The doctor who attended the concert
pronounced the man dead.
Today, The Swell Season released a statement on its MySpace page. “The band, crew and everyone involved with them are shocked and saddened by the unfortunate events of last night. Our hearts are with the victims who decided to kill himself at the concert last night at City Winery, Saratoga and their friends and family. ”

The song from the movie the song “Falling Slowly”, composed and performed by the two, won the Oscar for best original song.
