Motorhead Rocker Dies, ‘Wurzel’ Burston Motorhead former guitarist Michael had died at the age of 61. Tim Butcher, long-term technical Lemmy bass singer revealed the news on his Facebook.com page, on Saturday. In a post he wrote: “RIP Wurzles, great guitarist and a complete gentleman … I miss you…”
The rocker joined Motorhead in 1984 and played with the band for 11 years, appearing in six studio albums. His’ Wurzel nickname came from his resemblance to the fictional character Worzel Gummidge.
After leaving Mot? Rhead, Burston played for many other punk and metal bands, including WVKEAF and disgust. He met with his colleagues in 2009, joining them for a concert at the Hammersmith Apollo in London, where he did his classic song Ace of Spades together. He formed his own band, the leader of Down, but plans to release an album last year never materialized. Burston died of ventricular fibrillation caused by cardiomyopathy, known as heart disease.
