A report by the National Statistics Office revealed that 45 percent of Internet users have used a mobile phone to connect to the Internet, with six million have done so for the first time in the last year.

This trend has become especially prevalent among young people, with 70.8 percent of the 16-24 age group and 64.7 percent of youths between 25 and 34 are connected to the web via their mobile phones.

Older age groups are becoming less likely to use mobile phones to Internet connections, with over 65 years that less than 7.6 percent, which could reflect a lower use of the website for those who have not grown modern technology.

People living in rural areas could switch to a phone with 3G connectivity network operator Three is updating its network and services to offer free broadband to people living in rural areas.
