Mike Huckabee Announcement
May 14, 2011 by USA Post
“Governor Huckabee announced tomorrow night in your program whether or not it intends to explore a presidential bid,” said producer Woody Fraser. “He has not told anyone at Fox News Channel’s decision.
Senior political advisors Huckabee also said he did not know what was going to announce, raising suspicions that Huckabee, who is seeking the Republican nomination for president in 2008, will step down to another campaign.
Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee is reportedly making a “major announcement” Thursday, a move likely to end speculation about whether the former Republican governor run for president in 2012.
“Governor Huckabee announced tomorrow night in your program whether or not it intends to explore a presidential bid. He has not told anyone at Fox News Channel’s their decision,” a spokesman for Huckabee said Friday.
The announcement comes as the Republican presidential field of candidates quickly took shape with the commitments of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Texas Rep. Ron Paul, who confirmed he would seek the Republican nomination.
Huckabee, who made the announcement during his program on Saturday, has raised the possibility of a presidential campaign in recent months, traveling the country and meet with his supporters. The former Arkansas governor has repeatedly said it remains undecided.
That said, the recent moves by Mr. Huckabee seem to indicate that it will enter the 2012 race. “My guess is he going to say is not announcing a campaign,” said former Huckabee campaign manager Ed Rollins Friday.
Huckabee withdrawal is likely to leave a number of fans disappointed. Support for Huckabee’s candidacy is leading a series of surveys, many of who are the leaders of other former governor candidates.
