Michael Jackson Doctor Murray

Michael Jackson Doctor Murray, LAWYERS for Michael Jackson’s killer doctor Conrad Murray have claimed he is being treated like Hannibal Lecter behind bars. Attorney Charles Peckham fumed about how jail staff seemed to be more strict with Murray than with any other inmate. And he said the heavy shackles left on Murray during a meeting on Tuesday would have been more appropriate for fictional serial killer Hannibal.

Shamed Murray was last month caged for killing his King of Pop client with an overdose of deadly anaesthetic propofol. The judge branded him a danger to society as he jailed him for four years but he is expected to serve just half his sentence. Murray’s civil lawyer this week insisted his client was coping with tight jail security and his isolation, and remains optimistic he will win an upcoming appeal. But he insisted the measures were overly strict and needlessly harsh.

LA Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore defended the extra security because of Murray’s notoriety, insisting deputies were being “extra cautious” for his own safety.

He said: “[Murray] is a real target because of the Michael Jackson connection. We’re just being extra cautious right now.”

But Mr Peckham said: “Treating him like Hannibal Lecter is offensive.”

He had to obtain a court order on Tuesday to meet Murray to discuss a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Jacko’s father.

Mr Peckham claimed that, despite the judge’s order, he was denied entry to the jail – but officials eventually backtracked after speaking with court officials. He revealed how their 30-minute meeting was cut short when the jail was placed in lockdown.
