Matthew Perry Since Friends, Former Friends actor Matthew Perry has been cast in a recurring role on CBS’ hit Sunday drama The Good Wife.

Entertainment Weekly first reported that Perry was cast in the show Chicago attorney Mike in the legal drama that stars Julianna Margulies. Perry’s character is described as extremely charming, but will not be able to easily win the favor of Margulies’ character, Alicia Florrick.

In the announcement, CBS says that Mike and Alicia will both work on a panel investigating a police shooting, but Alicia wonders what Mike’s true intentions are by being chairman of the panel. CBS adds that Perry’s first episode will air on March 25 at 9 p.m., but did not say just how many episodes he will appear in. TV Line reports that rumors suggest his character may also appear in the beginning of next season.

In a statement to EW, co-creators and exec producers Robert and Michelle King said that they are “nearly giddy” over how Perry will handle the role.

“No one skates as effortlessly between drama and comedy as Matthew Perry, so we’re especially thrilled to have him on the show,” they said.
