Mass Lottery, (AP) – State Auditor Joseph DeNucci points to what he says are an ongoing problem with the professionals “ticket-collectors, saying millions in the lottery prize of Massachusetts.

An audit released Wednesday found a number of people who repeatedly made hundreds of awards valued at millions of dollars.

This apparently allows the real winners to avoid paying taxes by giving a smaller percentage of the collectors.

Collection of these tickets is generally professional players who can deduct gambling losses against the winner.

The lottery said it was necessary to pay the holder of a winning ticket for the amount due, but the identity of the collectors are frequently sent to the Internal Revenue Service federal and state Department of Revenue .
