Maryland Flush Hike Double, A working group is considering doubling the state, and even triple, separate from the state.
The fee for the Restoration Fund of the Bay is now and 30 a year for homeowners. The working group is considering recommending a doubling of the rate in 2013 and increases to 90 and in 2015.
The fund pays for the treatment plant wastewater and septic system upgrades, as well as cover crops that keep pollutants running off farms into waterways.
The Annapolis Capital reported Wednesday that the working group is also considering changing the way the fund is used, including a proposal to use funds in programs cover crops to reduce stormwater runoff. The working group, which met on Tuesday in Annapolis, will meet twice more before year end.
