In a statement distributed today by the U.S. media, one of the lawyers of Mark Madoff and his brother Andrew, Martin Flumenbaum, said: “Mark took his life today. It is a terrible and unnecessary tragedy.”

“Mark was an innocent victim of the monstrous crime of his father who succumbed to two years of relentless pressure, slanders and false accusations. We are very saddened by this terrible event,” he added.

Mark and Andrew received this week a lawsuit filed by Irving Picard, the trust appointed by the courts to recover increased maximum funds for the victims in the scam Bernard Madoff, valued at about 50,000 million dollars.
