Marilyn photos auction, A rare set of images of Marilyn Monroe has gone on sale in London. The six photographs were captured during the filming of her breakthrough film Niagara in 1952.

The pictures, which portray a relaxed 26-year-old actress on the brink of superstardom, were snapped up by Chelsea film poster shop Limelight Movie Art when they came up at auction at Christie’s this year.

Limelight’s owner Andy Millmore said it had been a once-in-a-lifetime chance to buy the pictures by Jock Carroll, which, unusually, came with copyright.

He said: “You see a lot of old photographs come up for auction but rarely, if ever, do you get photographs with copyright.”

As a result, a limited edition of 21 of the three colour images are on sale for £3,500 each, while the 75 black and white pictures are priced at £1,650 each.
