Marc Tyler Usc, Southern California rider Marc Tyler has been suspended from all team activities and the Trojans season opener for the comments he made to TMZ, which implies that it pays to play at USC. When TMZ asked if he could make more money at USC or the NFL, Tyler said, “USC, the breaking of bread”, making a gesture indicating a large pile of money.
USC coach Lane Kiffin suspended its main corridor for Monday Sept. 3 opener against Minnesota, and possibly longer. The fifth-year senior faces potential discipline of the school after what he said were two problems with alcohol in the month of April.
“I am disappointed to lose everyone who supported me as I have been working through some personal issues,” Tyler said in a statement released by the school. “I realize how my behavior and statements, although it was a joke, it can reflect poorly on many people. As a veteran player, I should know that my work is an example for the younger guys.”
USC is entering the second year of the ban from the postseason in four years of NCAA probation stemming from illegal benefits provided to Reggie Bush.
TMZ reported Tyler’s comments on Thursday were Voyeur, a nightclub in West Hollywood. Tyler, who turns 23 in September, also made a nasty comment on TMZ Kim Kardashian, Bush’s ex-girlfriend.
“That’s not the way we expect our players to represent USC and our team,” Kiffin said. “Although Marc can find this severe punishment, it is imperative that we continue a high level of player behavior. Marc has to work hard to prove it can meet the standards of being a USC football player.”
Athletic Director Pat Haden, Tyler said, “stepped out of line. Not represent yourself, your college or your team the way we expect. Marc has a lot to do to prove that belongs to our team. Marc learns that hope and becomes a different person and better. ”
Last month, Tyler said he had submitted to the School Office of Student Judicial Affairs to discuss two complaints filed against him in April. Tyler was accused of spitting at a drunken student, and then touching another student inappropriately in a bar near the downtown campus of USC.
Tyler acknowledged the problems could lead to student discipline, but do not expect to be expelled from school without a history of problems. Tyler also said he sought the advice of this summer.
Tyler is the son of the famous racer Wendell Tyler, who attended UCLA before an NFL career with the Rams and 49ers. Marc Tyler played football in high school in suburban Los Angeles with quarterback Jimmy Clausen Carolina, his close friend.
Tyler rushed for 913 yards and nine touchdowns last season, starting eight games in the yearlong fight for playing time in the Trojans’ backfield depth. He struggled with injuries for much of his first three years at USC, and missed much of spring practice after reporting overweight and injury to the hamstring on the first day of practice.
Tyler could have held the Trojans no doubt that the only runner returns with a great experience. Multi threat Dillon Baxter is back for its second season, while junior Curtis McNeal returns after missing last year with academic problems.
“I accept my punishment and I regret that miss the first game of my senior year,” said Tyler. “I am committed to doing everything the right way for it to be reinstated to the team.”
