Mannequin Foot Prompts Lake Search, Sonar equipment and divers spent nearly 10 hours searching for an Antioch-Lakes region Wednesday after a child engages reported what he thought was a human foot that fell loose from the line a few meters from the boat.
Rescuers finally saw the lifeless feet of missing in the murky waters and were relieved to discover it was just a Halloween accessory.
“He was a reliable source,” said Fire Department Battalion Chief John Skillman Gurnee. “He had rather a foot, but was not a human being.”
Divers dive team of Antioch Fire Department and investigators from the Sheriff’s Office Lake County responded to Lake Marie at 9 am, after three trawlers reported Wednesday morning caught his foot, authorities said.
The fake foot is finally found with the help of side scan sonar around 6:30 pm, and the search was suspended, according to the sheriff’s office.
Lieutenant Lake County Sheriff, Christopher Thompson said deputies were called to the southwestern shore of the lake, where anglers of two adults and a child hooked up. Thompson said in a statement that the support was found Thursday at 5:30 pm
