Man Charged In Meat Assault, A Rhode Island man tried to walk away from a Pulaski Boulevard supermarket with nearly $200 worth of packaged meat in his jacket yesterday, police said.
Frank Pleau, 39, of 1 Main St., Apt. 504, Woonsocket, also assaulted store workers who tried to stop him, police said.
Super Stop & Shop employees called police at 10:30 a.m. yesterday, saying a man was fighting them after they tried to stop him from taking beef steaks and pork loins. Workers found 12 packages of meat in Pleau’s jacket but said “many more” packages fell out during the skirmish, police said.

He is on probation for possession of a Class E drug, indecent exposure, open and gross lewdness, and lewd, wanton or lascivious conduct in October 2010, according to court documents.
Pleau was held without bail on the warrant and is expected to appear in Milford District Court today at 8:30 a.m. for the shoplifting charges.
