Wife Ruth has not gone to visit her imprisoned husband throughout the year, sources with inside information about the Madoff family say the suicide of son Mark in December was the turning point for Ruth.
Only after the body of Mark was discovered around Christmas at his midtown Manhattan apartment where he had been living alone with his son, who was unhurt, a young lawyer Madoff said in a statement that his client was a victim “innocent monstrous crime of his father who succumbed to two years of relentless pressure from false accusations and innuendo. ”
It seems that the abandonment of Ruth Bernie is a last ditch effort to save her relationship with her remaining son while you can. A biographer Madoff said the decision of Mrs. Madoff said the dedication of Ruth her husband was the cause of conflicts among non-incarcerated Madoff. Diana Henriques, author of Bernie Madoff: The Wizard of lies, said:
“Ruth has not seen Bernie’s suicide Mark and I think the rest of the family now … together Ruth visited him in jail was a major obstacle to her being reconciled with them.”
The Madoff have been married for 52 years. Bernie Madoff met his wife in high school in the fifties, and the couple married in 1959. Bernie Madoff is 73 years and is serving a 150-year long in a prison in North Carolina.
