Lost Power & Alabama, U.S. officials Thursday are monitoring a nuclear plant in the southern state of Alabama, which lost power in heavy storms that hit the region.

U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) said the nuclear power plant Browns Ferry, near Athens, Alabama lost power out of the office early in the morning due to severe storms damaged power lines in the area. ”

The plant shuts down automatically after losing power outside the premises and operators of the Tennessee Valley Authority are working to restore the offer, said the NRC, with emphasis on the ground of “security systems have functioned as necessary. ”

Historic storms that hit the region on Wednesday left at least 190 people, killing 128 people in Alabama alone with tornadoes and floods ripping a trail of destruction across the state.
