Lisa Ling, The documentary “Miss Representation” star has a great list of interviewees, united behind an issue. The theme is how women are represented – as sex objects, as victims, as bad-tempered dogs – in the media. He also speaks of how the pictures have a severe effect on how young women are, and how the nation sees women in power.
Some of the women in power, as Nancy Pelosi and Condoleezza Rice, interviewed in the film. So are the journalists Katie Couric and Lisa Ling, commentator Rachel Maddow, actresses Rosario Dawson, Geena Davis and Jane Fonda, and comedian Margaret Cho (who is responsible for a trailer in bad word).
The film is directed by actress-turned-filmmaker Jennifer Siebel Newsom. (Ironically, the film director may be best known for her famous husband, Mayor of San Francisco, and soon to be Lieutenant Governor of California, Gavin Newsom.)
“Miss Representation” screens of U.S. antitrust Documentary at the Sundance Film Festival 2011.
