Lewisville Isd:Flower Mound baseball coach Steve Stinson resigned Tuesday as the Lewisville ISD continued its investigation into the high school’s varsity program, school district spokeswoman Karen Permetti said.
The Lewisville ISD launched an internal investigation into the Flower Mound baseball program Friday and placed Stinson on paid administrative leave. Permetti said the investigation began after a student voiced a concern about the program to a parent and the parent notified the school’s principal.
Permetti said she couldn’t release any details involving the investigation of the program because it was a personnel matter. She said the school district hopes to wrap up the investigation by Friday.
“There are still components of the program being investigated, but this one part has been finished,” Permetti said, “and it finished with his resignation.”
Stinson, a 49-year-old Kimball graduate, coached five seasons at Flower Mound, leading the Jaguars to the playoffs every year and compiling a 129-45 record. Flower Mound reached the Class 5A regional semifinals last season and finished 23-11. Stinson has a career record of 241-141 in 14 seasons as a head coach.
Stinson declined comment when reached Monday. On Tuesday, he didn’t immediately return calls to his cell phone.
