March 19, 2012 by staff

Lady Gaga’s Mother Speaks Out, In a new interview with Oprah Winfrey, Cynthia Germanotta, mother of Stefani (aka Lady Gaga) reveals that she and her husband were fearful for their daughter’s sanity. Cynthia appeared on Sunday’s episode of “Oprah’s Next Chapter” to discuss her famous daughter’s life and upbringing. In the interview she describes one of Stefani’s first performances. “When Gaga started emerging… When she was performing, I think it was at Joe’s Pub downtown, and she was in her bikini performing with Lady Starlight and decided to actually light hairspray on fire.”

“Some people left when that happened, and a lot of people stayed and thought it was cool, but her father and I were like, honestly he said, ‘I think she has a screw loose.’”

Yet that didn’t stop Gaga from growing and transforming Stefani into an international superstar.

Gaga, Cynthia, and Oprah recently appeared together at the launch of Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation. The organization hopes to “explore the best ways to reach youth and create a new culture of kindness, bravery, acceptance and empowerment.”

This could be one of the last media appearances for Lady Gaga. “Other than this interview, Oprah, I do not intend to speak to anyone for a very long time,” she said in Sunday’s interview.
