Lady Gaga SimpsonsLady Gaga Simpsons, The Simpsons” is looking to break a record as it prepares to air its historic 500th episode and fans are invited to join the party and make it happen. The episode will air on Feb. 19. Fans are asked to come together starting on Feb. 8 to watch up to 500 continuous episodes of “The Simpsons” in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for continuous television viewing. The record is currently 86 hours, 6 minutes and 41 seconds.

The Ultimate Fan Marathon Challenge will start at the Hollywood and Highland Center in Los Angeles. A winner will get a $10,500 prize and “The Simpsons” merchandise to commemorate the anniversary.

The animated series, as reported by The Huffington Post , already holds the records for the longest running animated series, the longest running sitcom and the most Emmy Awards won for an animated series.

The 500th episode is titled “At Long Last Leave” and will air at 8 p.m. Feb. 19. The Simpsons family will be evicted from the town of Springfield and join an off-the-grid community outside of town, the press release states. Their attempt to sneak back meets up with some not-so-welcoming former friends and neighbors, making them think again about where they live.

This coming season will feature voice guests including Lady Gaga, Michael Cera, “Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston and “The Social Network” star Armie Hammer.

Creator Matt Groening, also known for the comic strip “Life in Hell” and the animated series “Futurama,” launched “The Simpsons” series on FOX in 1989. It originally was a short on “The Tracey Ullman Show.”
