Kardashian filed for divorce from basketball player Humphries last week after 72 days of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences in her legal papers.
Speaking on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Tuesday, reality star Jenner said that she wasn’t sure if a reconciliation would ever happen, adding that she advised her daughter to “follow her heart”.
Jenner said: “I don’t know, I really don’t know. She’s been on the road and she’s trying to figure it out. She’s had a very difficult decision she had to make. I told her to follow her heart and the only thing I can do is be here for you. She’s my daughter and I have to respect what she is going through.”
Leno then asked Jenner whether it was hard to “follow your heart” when you had wedding plans in full force and commitments to televise the nuptials.
“It’s a lot of pressure. I don’t know what was going on in her head. I know that she will be here [on The Tonight Show] in a week or two so maybe you can ask her,” replied Jenner.
“I can’t really tell her what her innermost thoughts and feelings are because I don’t know. She went to Australia and came home, went to Minnesota [to visit Humphries] and came home, and now she’s in Atlanta filming a movie.
“She’s just trying to throw herself in her work and keep her obligations fulfilled.”
Jenner went on to say: “It’s a very brave thing she did. It’s not the most popular thing in the world to have done what she did. She didn’t want to disappoint anybody, let alone her family.”
As for whether the couple had “rushed into divorce”, she replied: “I don’t know, that’s a good question for Kim.”
Kardashian flew to Australia following news of the split on a pre-planned promotional tour, returning to the US last week. She later travelled to Minnesota to visit Humphries in a meeting that was also attended by the pastor who married them.
She is currently filming her role in Tyler Perry’s comedy movie The Marriage Counsellor.
