Kissing Couple Riot, Proud father of Brett Jones has identified the boy kissing a girl famous, while Vancouver burned, saying in his Facebook page, “This is my son. How is that to make love, not war!”
In a photo spread on Thursday, a young couple can be seen lying in the street in Vancouver, riot police in the background and foreground. The two kiss. The man in the photo is 29-year-old son of Scott Jones.
Photographer Richard Lam, a freelancer for the Agency QMI, broke a photo of what he thought was a victim on the ground, when riot police moved quickly.
“There are two people lying in the middle of the street,” said Lam. “We stopped, looked back … this person was injured and there was someone else that comes to her aid.”
It was only after a colleague told him after “big picture” Lam realized the couple was caught in a passionate embrace in the middle of a riot.
That moment of romance became the most talked mutiny online photo following the destruction. Some thought it was staged, others thought it was Photoshop, and everyone wanted to know the identity of the couple.
Jones, Perth, Australia, ending the mystery his Facebook message. The media have identified the woman in the picture as Scott’s girlfriend, Alexandra Thomas, a Vancouver resident originally from Coquitlam, BC
