Kim Nelson baby

She went to the hospital early that morning, suffering from what she thought might be a ruptured appendix, and was stunned when the real diagnosis came.
“I was like, ‘There’s no baby; I don’t know what you guys are talking about, you’re crazy,’” said Nelson, about her conversation with a nurse at a Portland hospital.
Once she was convinced, she had to break the news to family members, including her mother, Denise Breece.
“I didn’t believe her,” said Breece, who asked her daughter if she had any symptoms prior to the labor.
Nelson said she did not experience sickness like she had during her previous two pregnancies for her daughters, Aubree, 9, and Anika, 3. Nelson said she had occasional pain but attributed it to ovarian cysts that she’s had for years. She also said she lost 20 pounds earlier this year, but thought her job at a fast food restaurant had led to putting the weight back on.
Her story is similar to those profiled by the cable television show “I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant,” which features surprise births across the country.
“I was always the type of person that was like, ‘How do you not know you’re pregnant?’” said Nelson, about the show. “I’ve watched that show a million times, and I guess I can open mouth and insert foot because I can no longer say it.”
