Former world No. 1 Belgian star defeated Vera Zvonareva in the final last year in New York and current No. 1 beat Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark in the party’s 2009 U.S. Open.
Clijsters actually has a lead of 21 consecutive victories at the USED TO Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, where he has not lost since the U.S. Open final 2003. Skipped the 2004 U.S. Open due to injury, called there in 2005, and missed the tournament three consecutive years since 2006-08 due to injury and retirement. The popular Belgian took the time to start a family retreat and left nearly two years in the summer of 2009.
The 28-year-old world No. 3 Clijsters is a four-time Grand Slam champion, including three U.S. crowns Open. She also named in the Australia Open later this year in January.
Clijsters also missed Wimbledon Championship this summer due to injury and has not called anywhere, that capturing her first Australian Open title for seven months.
The U.S. Open 2011 will begin August 29 in Flushing Meadows.
