Kevin Millwood,INDIANAPOLIS — Agent Scott Boras, who represents Rangers pitcher Kevin Millwood, said a deal “is not done yet,” when asked at a briefing near the media room on Wednesday about a reported trade that would send Millwood to Baltimore for Chris Ray.
“I’m sure there are discussions,” Boras said. “But the reports that we have are that nothing has been completed.”
Millwood said that he hasn’t heard anything in regard to a trade.
Boras said Millwood has a limited no-trade clause. He did not say how Baltimore factors into that clause and whether the club would need Millwood’s permission to make a deal with the Orioles.
The Baltimore Sun is reporting that an agreement is in place, according to Orioles team sources, that would send Ray to the Rangers for Millwood, with Texas picking up part of Millwood’s salary.
The report said the deal would need approval by MLB because more than $1 million in cash is changing hands. Review of medical records for each player is also needed to get the trade completed.
