Kenny Ortega, Kenny Ortega will direct a new film version of the hit 1987 film Dirty Dancing, according to Deadline.com. Ortega served as choreographer for the original film. No start date or production casting have been announced.
Directed by Emilie Ardolino and starring Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze, Dirty Dancing is a teenage girl named Frances “Baby” Houseman (Grey), which includes rebellious dance instructor Johnny Castle (Swayze), while her family vacations in one place summer.
When Johnny dance partner is no longer able to do, you train the baby to become a dancer, seductive, and follows the romance. The film was adapted for the stage, making her West End debut in October 2006 and close July 9, 2011. The show also toured in North America.
Ortega film directing credits, including High School Musical series, This Is It, gang and Hocus Pocus, and episodes of the short-lived TV dirty dancing. Ortega was originally attached to direct the remake of Footloose, but abandoned the project. He was chosen to direct a film adaptation of the Tony-winning musical In the Heights before universal abandoned the project.
