Nigel Havers, Britt Ekland, Gillian McKeith, rapper Aggro Santos, Play boy model Kayla Collins, ex-MP Lembit Opik and Olympic medallist Linford Christie are also heading for the Australian jungle.
Former Happy Mondays star Shaun – whose presence on the new series had already been revealed – said he was dreading being on camera – and was only doing the show to make his family proud.
Shaun, a former heroin addict known for his four-letter outbursts, said: “It’s thanks to my missus and the kids that I am doing this. Me, my kids and the missus all watch the show. We really love it. swore I would not do the programme and I have to admit that when they first approached me about doing it, I blanked the idea for a month. But I have got six kids who want me to do the show, the wife wants me to do the show – and that’s why I am doing it. I do want to make them proud.”
Model Kayla said she may be looking for love in the jungle and has promised to wear a number of bikinis – to promote her new range of swimwear – but she reckons she will struggle with tiny portions of food and will probably throw up when forced to eat nasties.
One of the most unlikely I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! contestants is respected actor Nigel, who admitted: “Nobody like me has ever done it before and it strangely appealed to me. It is a challenge and it will surprise people.”
