Katy Perry HawaiiKaty Perry Hawaii, New reports claim that Katy Perry wanted her husband to file for divorce so that she didn’t have to be the one to end their marriage – and disappoint her evangelical Christan parents.

Russell Brand’s lawyers filed papers in Los Angeles this week ending the A-list couple’s 14-month union.
According to celebrity website TMZ, the singer, 27, did not want to officially file for divorce herself as divorce goes against her religious upbringing.

Her parents, Keith and Mary Hudson, publicly gave their approval to their daughter’s love before their marriage, despite his controversial background.
Keith, a pastor, said at the time: ‘We all have a past. I was in the Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin era, and I used to take LSD.’

TMZ alleges that, contrary to earlier reports, the couple agreed to split a few weeks ago, but waited to file papers until they were both out of the country.

Brand, 36, is currently in England, while The One That Got Away singer Perry is on holiday in Hawaii.
Russell released a statement yesterday that said he still ‘adores’ his wife and hoped they would remain friends.

The comedian stepped out looking downcast without his wedding ring on in London yesterday as the news went public.

Brand said in his statement: ‘Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.’
His legal team filed court documents at the Superior Court in Los Angeles yesterday citing ‘irreconcilable differences.’
The divorce documents, which refer to Perry by her give name Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, show there are ‘community property assets,’ suggesting there may not be a pre-nuptial agreement in place.

It does not list a date of separation and Perry is yet to comment on the split.
