Kathy Ireland, Supermodel and entrepreneur Kathy Ireland has graced the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition a record three times, but that’s not even her biggest claim to fame.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, the 48-year-old model-mogul has a net worth of $350 million, making her the current richest supermodel in the world.
As majority shareholder and CEO of Kathy Ireland Worldwide, it doesn’t seem like there is much that Kathy isn’t willing to sell. The company-which according to Forbes magazine outsells competitor Martha Stewart-makes everything from wedding gowns to ceiling fans to workout videos.
“So many young people say, ‘I’m going to see what happens,’” Ireland told Forbes, “It’s much more powerful to make things happen and have a plan.”
Ireland began her entrepreneurial career in 1993 with-of all things-a line of socks selling at Kmart. The next year she took out a loan and launched her self-titled company. From there, Kathy began to expand her repertoire of products to home goods and furniture. And it didn’t stop there: wigs, furs, books, flooring, windows, mattresses . . . more than 15,000 products, in fact.
But with a target demographic of busy moms-a category that she herself represents, this former swimsuit model is not ready to settle just yet. “We have a long way to go,” she happily told Forbes.
