Kate Middleton Black Dress

Kate Middleton Black Dress, When Kate stepped out in a gorgeous £4000 Alexander McQueen gown for the Sun’s Military Awards bash in London, comparisons were made to an outfit Princess Diana wore back in 1981.
For Diana’s first public engagement with Prince Charles, a fundraiser at The Royal Opera House, she also opted for a black gown with a ruffled edge, although it was made of satin instead of velvet like Kate’s.
Despite being just 19 at the time, Diana made headlines around the world and the media began their obsession with her immaculate style.
Diana’s gown was created by Elizabeth and David Emmanuel, who went on to design her infamous wedding dress, which sold at auction for £192,000 to a fashion museum in Chile last year.
Elizabeth Emanuel said of the outfit: ‘The transformation was incredible. She arrived looking like the nursery school teacher she was, but now she looked like a movie star.’
And the accessory both ladies opted for to complement their outfits? The very same diamond and sapphire engagement ring.
