KAT KickassTorrents: Founder Of Biggest Torrent Site Arrested, The United States Department of Justice says it has successfully captured and charged with the alleged founder and operator KickassTorrents, site largest and most famous in the world of BitTorrent distribution. Artem Vaulin, a 30-year-old from Kharkov, Ukraine, was arrested today in Poland, on behalf of the US, which has requested his extradition for offenses related to the operation of the site. Vaulin now faces two counts of criminal copyright violation, a charge of conspiracy to commit criminal copyright infringement and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering. All site domains are in the process of being captured, while access to the site seems to have stopped.

“Vaulin is accused of entering the website illegal file sharing most visited today, responsible for illegally distributing over and 1 billion materials copyrighted,” wrote Leslie R. Caldwell, the assistant attorney general the criminal division of the Justice Department, in a statement. “In an effort to evade law enforcement, Vaulin allegedly relied on computer servers in countries around the world and their domains moved due to repeated attacks and civil lawsuits. His detention in Poland, however, proves once more cybercriminals can run but can not hide from justice. ”
