Julie Powers Schenecker, (AP) – Authorities are trying to figure out what sparked a Florida woman for allegedly killing two teenage children. When police responded to a call from a parent concerned and found Julie Schenecker on the back porch of her home in Tampa, they said it was covered with blood and made a heartbreaking confession: She was killed and her teenage son her daughter because they were “mouthy.”

Police said the wife of army officer, described by her mother as depressed, shot her son on the way to soccer practice, then drove to their home premium and shot her daughter in the head while the girl looked at her computer.

Schenecker was charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

A 50 year old woman who complained that her two teenage children were insolent was accused Friday of shooting them to death at her home in Tampa Palms, police said.

Julie Powers Schenecker facing two charges of first degree murder in the death of Calyx Schenecker Powers, 16, and Beau Schenecker Powers, 13, said police spokeswoman Laura McElroy. Schenecker admitted the killings, said McElroy.

The children’s father is a colonel in the army Schenecker Parker, 48, who is stationed at Central Command in MacDill Air Force Base. He has been abroad and was informed that his wife had killed their children in their homes, 16305 Park Royal Court, police said.

“I do not think there’s an explanation that could make us understand. It does say they talk back and they were arrogant,” said McElroy.

The children were killed Thursday, but were not found until Friday morning when a police officer responded to the house after a break to the state became concerned when the family does has not been reached, according to police.

No one answered at home. At the back door, police found the mother covered in blood. Inside, police found the bodies of children and a note from the mother detailed how she killed her children and then herself with a .38 caliber pistol.

In the garage, police found a bullet Powers in the side of the head. Calyx was found dead at a computer in a room upstairs. It does not seem to have been a struggle, police said. “It seems that children who never saw it coming,” said McElroy.
