Judge Beats Daughter With Belt, A prominent judge in Texas who was filmed hitting his daughter with a belt and cursed her, said he was just disciplining his child and did nothing wrong.

“No, in my mind that I have done nothing wrong other than my child discipline after being caught stealing. And I lose control, but I have apologized since then,” said Judge William Adams KZTV Wednesday after the video was broadcast on the Internet.

Hillary Adams, the daughter who is beaten in the video, secretly recorded the beating, seven years ago and recently uploaded to YouTube on October 27. The video was later published on Reddit, a link-sharing website, where they accumulate millions of views and provoked anger among viewers.

Both Hillary and William Adams, said the beating was punishment for then 16-year-old Hillary Internet download illegally. The video, which led to thousands of calls of complaint to the court, the sheriff’s office and the police department, also prompted a police investigation into the matter.

“Under Texas law, and the penal code, parents have the right to discipline children. You know what discipline is and what is abuse. That has to be determined as a time,” said Police Chief Tim Jayroe KiiiTV Rockport.

The police attempt to authenticate the video and then flip to the district attorney, so they can present to a grand jury.

The video also shows Hillary’s mother, Hallie Adams, participate briefly in the beating, clutching the strap of her husband and telling her daughter to “act like a woman 16 years of age, and take it.” Hallie has left her husband and apologized to her daughter, she told the Today show.

“I was completely brainwashed and controlled,” Hallie said, noting that her husband struggled with addiction, but did not elaborate on what kind. “I did everything he did. When I leave the room you are telling me what to say, what to do.”

Now, Hillary Adams said her father has suffered enough.

“I think he has been punished enough with this audience only see something like this and I think he really needs help and rehabilitation. We take it out of counseling,” said the program today.
