Jude Law Sues Sun, British actor Jude Law has sued The Sun for allegedly hacking your phone, the two sides said Friday, in what is thought to be the first legal action against the tabloid daily selling to Rupert Murdoch.
Company the role of parents, News International, dismissed as “cynical” attempt to get the sun in the scandal that has enveloped the Murdoch media empire and forced the closure of its role as the sister, the News of the World.
The law was already suing the News of the World on hacking the phone, and his former girlfriend, actress Sienna Miller, won an apology and £ 100,000 in damages and legal costs of the Sunday paper.
News International said the law, the Oscar-nominated star of “Cold Mountain” and “Sherlock Holmes”, has launched the action alleging that Sun four articles in 2005 and 2006 were based on information obtained from their voicemails.
“We believe this is a deeply cynical and malicious intent to deliberately draw the sun in the phone-hacking issue,” said a statement from News International.
“The allegations made in this statement have been carefully investigated by our lawyers and the evidence shows that have no basis.
“In particular, the applicant’s lawyers have relied on a reference in the documentation should be well aware it has nothing to do with a case against The Sun.
“In addition, another article complained of merely reiterated information that was already public knowledge. The claim was defended vigorously.”
Association confirmed that he was taking action against the sun, and rejected “ridiculous” arguments News International.
“We have no comment to make about this claim to be considered by the court in due time,” said a statement from the actor’s lawyers, Atkins Thomson.
“The accusations of cynicism and mischief making by News International are ridiculous.
“By his own admission, News International have deceived the police, parliament and the public for nearly five years on the extent of the violations committed by its journalists and executives. His record speaks for itself.”
