Joan Zalk Chihuahua, Joan Zalk Ran Cooper the Chihuahua By Car: Cooper Injured. A dog-sitter is facing criminal charges after trying to walk a Chihuahua named Cooper alongside her car as she drove.  According to reports, she was driving her car at 10 to 15 mph. Needless to say, the dog had a good run.

Joan Zalk, 29, faces animal cruelty and felony menacing charges. After walking the dog via car, she was confronted by witnesses. People saw Zalk running the dog alongside her Toyota Camry.

The Daily Camera reported, “Several witnesses called police a little after 9 a.m. Friday when they saw a woman driving a Toyota Camry on Moorhead Avenue as a small dog on a leash ran alongside the driver’s side of the vehicle, according to a police report. Whaley told officers she drove behind the woman for some time as she first tried to understand what the woman was doing and then tried to figure out how to stop her. Whaley said the driver kept waving at her to pass, which several people did.”

Zalk told one of the witnesses who confronted her that she had a gun in the car. However she confessed to police officers that she did indeed make the threat but did not have a weapon in the car nor in her home. Officers said they saw cuts and blood on the dogs neck, as well as scabs.
