Jeter 3000Jeter 3000, After New Friday night at New York Yankees and Tampa Bay was rained out, the Rays refused to make the proposal of the New York Yankees for a game, day and night, Derek Jeter double to increase chances to get his 3,000 hit before the weekend crowd.

However, manager Joe Maddon of the Rays said before Saturday’s game it still expects Jeter to the Act No. 3000 against his club for today or Sunday games at Yankee Stadium. The Yankees captain is two strokes shy of the magic number of 2998 hits.

Maddon said there is a “good chance” the 37-year-old Jeter get the two hit he needs this weekend.

“It looks pretty spiffy for me right now,” he said. “Well rested after his injury. I can see the enthusiasm. He looks good, I think it looks great. So it’s probably a very good chance that will happen in the next two days.”

Jeter was taken off the Yankees today. Before the game, Johnny Damon of the Rays, his former teammate in the 2009 World Series, said he wanted to go on the field to shake hands with the captain of the Yankees after he joins the club of 3,000 hits. Damon will lead off the Rays.
