Jefferson County Texas, One person was killed and three others were injured as the result of a shooting at the Jefferson County Courthouse in Beaumont. The shooting suspect has been taken into custody.
The suspect has been identified as Bartholemew Granger, 41, by Judge John Stevens, according to a Beaumont Enterprise report.
One of the shooting victims was found in the basement of the courthouse while the others were shot in a parking lot.
The courthouse was placed on lockdown when a woman ran into the building and reported the man was carrying the rifle.
The suspect barricaded himself in a building near the Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce at one point and took some of the people inside as hostages.
Angel San Juan, News Director at KBTV in Beaumont, told FOX 26 News that the shooting was reported around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the courthouse. The shooting suspect was armed with a rifle.
