Math teacher Jeff Spires told Charlotte County High School administrators during an investigation into accusations against him that he took money from two students in exchange for improving their grades, WBBH-TV, Fort Myers, reported Tuesday.

Spires said he took between $60 to $70 from an 11th grader on two occasion in exchange for higher grades. The student received a B on his report card when he actually earned a C, Spires said.

The teacher also took either $15 or $30 from a senior for an improved grade, but it did not affect the student’s overall grade during the quarter, Spires said.
