Jeff Conaway, According to Dr. Drew Pinsky, Jeff Conaway actor checked into the hospital with pneumonia – not a drug overdose, as the press has been reporting. Unfortunately, Dr. Drew also reports that the veteran Celebrity Rehab took a turn for the worse this weekend. On Friday, Dr. Drew told his followers through his Twitter account that the actor’s fat is in stable condition, hospital sedative and a fan – and not in an induced coma as reported. “He is stable and looks set to recover from his pneumonia,” Pinsky wrote. But Saturday night, tweets Dr. Drew sounded less optimistic. “# JeffConaway still considered critical sepsis. Many people die of septic shock. Yes, very thin,” wrote Dr. Drew. Then, a few minutes later he added: “Yes, we must all pray for him not right now all of a sudden.”
Dr. Drew began working with Conaway in substance abuse addiction when the actor joined VH1 Celebrity Rehab in 2008. The actor had been dependent on drugs and alcohol since I was 17 years and has been struggling to be clean from the 80′s.
Conaway was found unconscious at his home on Friday and rushed to a hospital in Encino, California. Although Pinksy reported that this current hospitalization is pneumonia, Conaway representative said that “the use of painkillers and prescription drugs,” led him to be unconscious.
“In any case, there is some improvement,” her representative told People on Saturday night, “and we hope at this time.”
