“We were consistent and fight for 90 minutes,” Hernandez said. “We were two down and usually very difficult, but thank God for this team, we have found a way.”
Although not score in the final, dominant performances of Hernandez in the Gold Cup saw him win the Golden Boot with seven goals in six games. It also helped Mexico’s first goal, which saw Pablo Barrera score the first of a brace.
The 23-year-old was succinct in describing his first Gold Cup
“It was fantastic. I was happy because we won,” he said smiling Manchester United striker.
Joy Marquez shared his teammate, despite picking up an injury in the hamstring potentially serious. This is the second victory of the 32-year veteran in the competition and was happy to see the Mexican soccer will prevail.
“I think we did a good job in this tournament and I am celebrating the victory,” said Marquez.
He added: “We know that this victory against the USA was very important. Every time we play against the U.S., it is always a classic.”
