Jason Whitlock Fired

February 18, 2012 by staff

Jason Whitlock Fired, Jason Whitlock should be fired for his racist Tweet about New York Knicks guard Jeremy Lin. It doesn’t matter that the Fox Sports columnist apologized for his ridiculous remark Sunday. He wrote it and it should cost Whitlock his job.

At the very least he should be suspended, as Roland Martin of CNN was for his insensitive Tweets about the David Beckham ad which ran during the Super Bowl.

If you want to be a racist or a homophobe in the privacy of your home or around your friends, that’s your business. To do it publicly has ramifications in this digital age.

Whitlock should know that as well as anyone. He has been a national columnist for years, and a terrific one at that, first at the Kansas City Star and then with Fox Sports. He has nearly 120,000 followers on Twitter. His words have meaning. He’s not your average Joe.

What Whitlock wrote, and we will not repeat it here, was as insensitive as the comments that cost the late Jimmy “The Greek” Snyder and Don Imus their jobs, deservedly so.
