Japan Nuclear Plant

Japan Nuclear Plant, (CP) – Energy Secretary Steven Chu said Japan’s nuclear crisis would influence the location of new nuclear reactors in the United States.

He suggests that people may be more important than it was to decide where to build a factory.

President Barack Obama has ordered a comprehensive review of the safety of nuclear power plants in the United States.

New York Governor Cuomo is seeking a revision of the Central Indian Point, about 40 miles (65 kilometers) north of New York. More than 21 million people live within miles (80 kilometers) from the plant.

Chu told “Fox News Sunday” that officials believe Indian Point is safe, but they will consider whether it should continue to operate in the wake of the disaster in Japan.

Chu said decisions on where the site all the plants future will be different than in the past.
