James Franco To Teach A Course About Himself, Now that James Franco has conquered movies, television and received several post-graduate degrees, he’s moving on to becoming an established author.
The actor recently signed with online retailer Amazon, which is developing its own publishing company, to publish his first novel titled “Actor’s Anonymous,” according to the New York Observer.
The book will be a fictionalized telling of his life as an actor, however, no release date has been announced. “Actor’s Anonymous” is actually Franco’s second foray into fiction writing but it will be his first full-length novel. He previously released a short story collection called “Palo Alto” in October 2010.
Franco earned a master’s degree in film production from New York University in May 2011 and taught a graduate class himself this past fall.
There was some controversy recently over his degree at the school because a former professor of Franco’s at the university filed a lawsuit against the school claiming he was fired after he gave the actor a D for failing to attend 12 out of 14 directing classes he had taught in 2010. New York University spokespeople denied the professor’s claim.
Franco also holds an M.F.A. in writing from Columbia University and is pursuing a Ph.D. in English at Yale.
Meanwhile, Franco continues to act and is in talks to play Play boy founder Hugh Hefner in a cameo role in the new film “Lovelace,” a movie about adult film actress Linda Lovelace, who starred in the famous movie “Deep Throat,” according to Variety. Amanda Seyfried is set to portray the female star, while Sharon Stone will play her mother, Peter Sarsgaard will star as her husband and Hank Azaria will play a director.
Franco rose to fame on Judd Apatow’s TV series “Freaks and Geeks.” He earned an Oscar nomination for his role in the 2010 movie “127 Hours.” He appeared in the 2011 fantasy comedy film “Your Highness” and sci-fi thriller “Rise of the Planet of the Apes.” He also recently finished filming “Oz: The Great and Powerful.”
