Jackie Collins The Power Trip, Fans of Hilary Mantel’s well-deserved Booker Prize winner Wolf Hall are eagerly awaiting its sequel, Bring Up The Bodies (£20, Fourth Estate, May).

Exploring the downfall of Henry VIII’s second wife Anne Boleyn, it will be the second novel in a trilogy.

Another big hitter will be the new novel from William Boyd, author of Any Human Heart (recently made into a Channel 4 drama starring Matthew McFadyen), landing next month.

Waiting For Sunrise (Bloomsbury, £18.99) is both a thriller and the story of a “passionate and destructive” love affair set against the backdrop of Europe during the First World War.

From Peter Carey, award-winning author of Oscar And Lucinda, comes The Chemistry Of Tears (Faber, £17.99, April). It features “an automaton, a man and a woman who can never meet and a secret love story”.
