Jackie Buyher, a girl of 16 year-old from Evansville, Indiana, has disappeared, it has been found, and her mother to thank Facebook.
Jackie disappeared last Wednesday, and his mother, Rachel, began posting pictures of her daughter on Sunday with a call for help should they find Jackie.
In the hours that followed, Rachel received thousands of requests from friends, and many people posted photos of Jackie and through his mother for help on their pages. And on Monday, Jackie was found – Police received a tip that she was at a friend’s house, where they picked up.
Jackie had run away twice before, so there are problems at home. And his mother does not advocate the use of Facebook in any situation. But in this case it worked – and this is an interesting lesson in social media can do good.
