Ja RuleJa Rule, The rapper and actor JA Rule was sentenced Monday to more than two years in federal prison for failing to file tax returns. “I in no way tried to deceive the government or do something illegal. I was a young man who did a lot of money,” minutes before being sentenced. “I did not know how to deal with these finances, and I had people to guide me, so have made mistakes.”

Platinum rapper, whose real name is Jeffrey Atkins, admitted in March that paid no taxes for more than three million and earned between 2004 and 2006 while living in Saddle River. He has also been ordered to pay and 1.1 million in unpaid taxes.

Ja Rule New York was sentenced last month to a maximum of two years in prison after pleading guilty to attempted criminal possession of weapons. The case stemmed from a gun in his luxury sports car in July 2007, reports CBS affiliates WCBS.

Depending on its launch date of new sentence York – which could serve only 18 months in this case by complying with the requirements of good conduct and other rules – that could serve four to 12-month federal sentence. The federal time will be served at the Oneida Correctional Center in upstate New York, where he is serving the state sentence. Ja Rule, 35, was nominated for a 2002 Award for best rap album Grammy for “Pain is Love”. His film credits include 2001 “Fast and the Furious” and 2003 “Scary Movie 3.”
