ITV Secures Broadcast Rights To French Open Tennis, ITV has acquired the rights to broadcast free-to-air Open tennis tournament in France, who had been arrested by the BBC.

For the first time ITV’s live coverage of the tournament will be broadcast from 2012 under a three-year contract. ITV1 will air the men’s and women’s final at Roland Garros stadium in Paris, along with live coverage of two other games during the tournament in two weeks. The agreement also considers that the digital channel ITV4 and coverage about six hours of play each day in addition to providing highlights.

ITV controller of sport, Niall Sloane, said: “For the first time a Grand Slam tournament was broadcast live on ITV and with about six hours of coverage each day of the tournament we will be offering open-air viewers coverage of the tournament than ever before. ”

The BBC, however, the stock rights to maintain coverage of Wimbledon at least until 2017.
