Is The Post Office Open On Presidents Day 2011, Every third Monday of February, the United States celebrates a national holiday honoring George Washington and his successors to the presidency. The presidency was not originally designed to be the largest item in the world elected. The separation of powers between the legislative and exceutive (Congress) branches ensures that the American Revolution will not replace a royal monarch with a civilian. Also, at the time of the founding constitution, the new nation was far from being the superpower it would be less than 200 years later. Yet no one today disputes that the U.S. president, despite the checks and balances of the Constitution of the United States, is the actor most consequential policy in the world.
Whether FDR announcing the direct involvement of the United States in World War II, after Pearl Harbour, Truman dropped the bomb on Hiroshima to end the war, JFK confront the Soviets in the Cuban missile crisis and decide to launch the program to send a man on the moon, Nixon goes to China, Reagan said the Soviets to tear down the Berlin Wall, Bush or the choice to go to war after 9 / 11, the decisions a president can go a long way to direct the course of history. As a Canadian living in the United States, I chose to honor this holiday 21st February highlighting the presidents of inspiration that has made an impact on me and also made a significant contribution to improving the human condition:
According to the USPS Post Office, there is no delivery in the United States Mail on Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 21, 2011. Washington’s Birthday is a U.S. Postal holiday, and all post offices are closed to U.S. companies. This includes not only mail delivery to your home or business, but also schedule a post office in the lobby as well. Rhode Island will most likely find their bank is closed on Presidents Day, also known as Washington’s Birthday. For example, Providence Area Citizens Bank branches in Rhode Island are closed on Presidents Day 2011 for “normal” bank. Local citizens lobbies Bank branch and drive-ins are closed on Presidents Day to make major banking. However, many ATMs and supermarket kiosks and banks are open for deposits and ATM single ATM cash withdrawals. The banks are closed on the anniversary of Washington will resume normal business hours, Tuesday, February 22, 2011. USPS holidays and federal holiday celebrated on the third Monday in February (although the actual anniversary of our first president on February 22). Which is great news if you’re a federal employee and now extinct, but not so great news if you’re on the edge of your seat waiting for the tax refund to come in the mail.
