IPad Plant Death

IPad Plant Death, Foxconn Technology Co Ltd confirmed on Sunday that a third person has died after a huge explosion at a plant in southwestern China on Friday that local media have linked to the production of Apple iPad 2. The Taiwanese company’s main contract manufacturer for Apple gadgets popular tablet for the iPhone operates the plant in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, China.
A working group led by government officials and police said that preliminary results point to a combustible dust explosion in a pipe in a polishing workshop on the ground, Foxconn, said. The company also said that all operations remain suspended in the workshop and production in all shops doing similar work is also suspended. All other production operations at its facilities in China are running as usual, he added. An Apple spokesman was not immediately available for comment. Besides the three deaths, 15 people were injured. Of those six, have been treated and discharged from the hospital, Foxconn, said.
Foxconn, the world’s largest contract manufacturer, is a subsidiary of Hon Hai in Taiwan.
