“The Hyland’s teething tablets are manufactured to contain a small quantity of belladonna, a substance that can cause serious damage to larger doses. For such a product, it is important that the amount of belladonna be carefully controlled. Laboratoryanlysis of the FDA, however, found that the tablets Hyland’s teething contain incompatible quantities of belladonna. In addition, FDA has received reports of serious adverse events among children taking this product, which are compatible with belladonna toxicity. The FDA also received reports of children who consumed more tablets than recommended, because the containers are not equipped with child safety caps. ”
