Husband Intruder Shoots Wife, A Florida woman was rushed to the hospital after she was accidentally shot in the chest by her husband.

“He heard some noises coming from the first floor, as he walked downstairs, he armed himself with a firearm and at that point is when he turned the corner, met face to face and pulled the trigger,” said Det. Alvaro Zabaleta.

Investigators say Larry Valadez was not expecting his wife, Neleida Vasquez, to be home because she had left with their children to run errands.

“Thankfully, the children were waiting inside the car so they were uninjured,” Zabaleta said.

Neighbors in the community empathize with Valadez and his wife. With crime rates in the community on the rise lately, he assumed he was protecting his home.

“There was a shooting a few months ago and about a month before that somebody had broke into their house during the day,” said neighbor Myles Feder.

In fact, Miami-Dade police confirmed a murder at the house behind the couple’s home and neighbors say SWAT had previously raided the house on the other side of them.

“I mean, I would be scared if someone opened the door too,” said neighbor Sandra Massuit.

After talking to neighbors and listening to the 911 tape, detectives now say they believe it was accidental.
